If you sell from more than one spot — a camp store, a bar, a marina hut, a gift shop — locations let you tell RoverPass which products are sold where. Each register then shows only the items it actually sells, and every sale records the spot it was rung up at.
Two things locations are not: they are not a permission or a lock — any staff member can change the location on the store screen at any time, and barcode scanning ignores it entirely. And they are not separate cash drawers or tills; RoverPass records the location on each sale, it does not keep a running total per location.
Locations are optional. If you never create one, nothing in your General Store changes.
Add as many as you need. Each one appears under Current Locations in alphabetical order, with a count of how many products are assigned to it. Two locations at the same campground cannot share a name.
To rename a location, click the pencil icon beside it, edit the name and click the green check. Renaming is safe at any time: the new name appears everywhere the old one did, including on receipts for sales that were already rung up.
To delete a location, click the trash icon. The confirmation window names the location and tells you how many products it will be removed from. Products that are left with no locations at all go back to being available at every location. Your sales history is kept — past sales still show the name of the location they were rung up at.
Once you have at least one location, an Available at Locations section appears on the product form, on both New Product and Edit Product.
Leave every box unticked for anything sold everywhere. A product with no locations ticked shows up at all of them — so the quickest way to set this up is to tag only the exceptions: the draft beer that is only sold at the Bar, the bait that is only sold at the Marina. Everything else can stay untagged.
The product list now hides anything not sold at that location, in both the card and list views. Untagged products stay visible. If your search and location together match nothing, you will see No matching products found.
The choice sticks. Each device remembers the location you picked for that campground — through page reloads, completed sales and tomorrow's shift — so the tablet behind the bar stays on Bar and the one in the store stays on Store. It is remembered per browser, so setting it on one tablet does not change another.
To see everything again, set the dropdown back to All Locations. If the location a register was set to is deleted, that register quietly falls back to All Locations. And if your campground has no locations yet, the dropdown does not appear at all.
When a sale is rung up with a location selected, the receipt shows a Location: line under the date. This appears on the receipt shown after checkout, on reprints from your transactions log, and on the printable receipt page.
If the register was on All Locations, no location is recorded and the line is left off.
This dropdown is a filter for the report, not a setting for a register, so it always starts on All Locations when you open the page. Changing it takes you back to the first page of results.
A dash in the Location column means no location was recorded for that sale. That happens when the register was set to All Locations, when the sale was rung up before you started using locations, or when the purchase was not made through the General Store at all — online checkout, Reservation Builder and ticket sales do not carry a location.
Both the column and the dropdown only appear once your campground has at least one location.
Do I have to use locations?
No. If you do not create any, your General Store works exactly as before: no dropdown on the store screen, no checkboxes on products, no Location column in your transactions.
Will a product disappear if I forget to tag it?
No. A product with no locations ticked is available at every location.
Can two tablets be set to two different locations at once?
Yes — that is the point. Each device remembers its own choice. Staff who share a browser profile, or work in a private/incognito window, will need to pick the location again.
Why does a sale show a dash instead of a location?
Because the register was on All Locations when it was rung up, because it predates your locations, or because it was not a General Store sale.
If I rename a location, what happens to old sales?
They show the new name. The name is read live, so a rename or a spelling fix applies everywhere at once.
Is there a limit to how many locations I can create?
No.
