Split a Reservation to Move Part of Stay to Another Site

Split a Reservation

Overview

The Split Reservation feature allows you to move part of an existing reservation to a different site without creating a new booking from scratch or modifying past reservations that overlap with the selected site.

This is especially useful for long-term stays when a camper needs to change sites during their reservation. Instead of moving the entire reservation, you can split it at a specific date and move only the remaining portion of the stay to a new site.

Both portions remain linked to the same reservation record, meaning all guest information, payments, notes, and reservation details remain together while the calendar accurately reflects the camper's stay across multiple sites.

When should I use Split Reservation?

Use this feature when:

  • A camper needs to move to another site during their stay.
  • The desired site has past reservations that would normally prevent moving the entire reservation.
  • You want to preserve the reservation history without creating multiple reservations.

For example, if today's date is May 23 and a reservation runs from April 1 through July 15, you can split the reservation on May 23 and move only the remaining dates to another site. Since the portion before May 23 remains on the original site, past reservations on the new site no longer prevent the move.

How to Split a Reservation

  1. From the left-hand menu, click Transactions > Reservations.
  2. Open the reservation you want to modify.
  3. Click Modify Reservation from the top menu.
  4. Next to the current Site, click Change.
  5. Select the new site where you want to move the camper.
  6. Click Submit Changes.

Review the Price Recalculation

A confirmation window will appear explaining that changing the site recalculates the reservation price.

The updated total may be affected by:
  • Dynamic pricing
  • The site's rate tier (daily, weekly, or monthly)
  • Holidays
  • Any price changes made before the modification

Review the information and click Confirm to continue or Cancel to keep the reservation unchanged.

Handle Any Price Difference

If the updated reservation results in a price difference, another window will appear with three options:

  • Payments & Invoices — Redirects you to the Payments tab to collect an additional payment.
  • Refunds — Redirects you to the Refunds tab to issue a refund.
  • No, a price adjustment is not necessary — Keeps the reservation total unchanged if no adjustment is needed.

Viewing the Reservation

After completing the split, the calendar will display the reservation in two segments:

  • The first portion remains on the original site.
  • The second portion appears on the new site.

Although the reservation appears in two places on the calendar, it is still a single reservation.

Selecting View Full Details from either calendar entry opens the same reservation record. Guest information, payments, notes, invoices, and all other reservation details remain together.

Reservation History

In the Overview section of the reservation, you'll see a history of every site assigned to the reservation, along with the date range the camper stayed at each site.

This provides a complete timeline of site changes throughout the reservation.

Identifying Split Reservations

Split reservations can be easily identified in the calendar by the chain link icon displayed next to the camper's name.

The icon indicates that the reservation spans multiple sites while remaining a single reservation record.
