Bill guests for electricity with Jamestown Smart Sync

Jamestown Outdoor Smart Sync

Bill guests for the power they actually use — without walking the park every month.

RoverPass reads kWh from your Jamestown Smart Sync meters and posts the usage charge to the guest's reservation folio at checkout. Owners stop estimating power costs and stop walking the park with a clipboard.

What is Jamestown Outdoor Smart Sync?

Jamestown Advanced Products manufactures Smart Sync — networked electric meters that drop into your existing site pedestals. The meters report kWh usage in near-real-time over your park's network, so you can bill actual consumption instead of flat fees.

Smart Sync is meter-only — no other infrastructure changes. If your pedestals already have meter sockets, you swap them in.

Why are we offering this integration?

Power is the single biggest variable cost most parks ignore:

  • Monthly lot-rent power. Long-term guests use 3-5× the power of a weekend RVer, but most parks bill the same $50 flat fee. Real metering ends the subsidy.
  • Snowbird stays. Winter Texans run electric heat for months. A flat fee doesn't come close to covering the real cost. Smart Sync bills actual kWh.
  • Rising utility rates. When your electric rate goes up, metered billing flows the increase to the guest. Flat fees don't.

How does Jamestown work with RoverPass?

  1. Jamestown Smart Sync meters poll site kWh hourly. Reads sit on Jamestown's servers.
  2. Smart Sync pushes reads to RoverPass via API.
  3. The reservation links usage to the guest folio automatically — each site's kWh is tied to whoever's parked there.
  4. Charges post at checkout at the rate tier you configured (per kWh, by site or season).
  5. Start and end reads stored on the reservation — full audit trail for the guest folio.

What are the requirements?

  • Jamestown Smart Sync meters installed (replace existing pedestal meters)
  • Active Jamestown account with API credentials
  • RoverPass concierge activation appointment

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I have older Jamestown pedestals — do I need new ones? No. The Smart Sync meters drop into standard meter sockets that most Jamestown pedestals already have. Your installer confirms compatibility at quote time.

Q: Can I set different rates for different sites? Yes. Per-site or per-season rates are supported — useful for premium pull-throughs, monthly sites, or seasonal pricing.

Q: What if a guest disputes the bill? The reservation folio shows start kWh, end kWh, and total — your guest sees the same numbers you do. Disputes drop to near zero once metering is itemized.

Q: What does it cost? Smart Sync meters and the Jamestown account are paid directly to Jamestown Advanced — pricing depends on how many meters you install. The RoverPass-side integration is included in the Integrations bundle ($29/month).

Q: How do I get started? Submit a support ticket or reach out to your RoverPass account manager. We coordinate setup with your Jamestown rep.
