If your Volcora thermal printer prints receipts but your cash drawer doesn't open, don't worry—this is usually caused by a simple configuration issue rather than faulty hardware.
If you're using the recommended Volcora 80mm Thermal Printer and Volcora 13" Cash Drawer, your hardware is fully compatible with RoverPass. In most cases, no replacement parts are needed.
Good to know: The cash drawer is controlled by the printer, not your computer. Every time a receipt prints, the printer sends a signal to the drawer to open. If the receipt prints but the drawer stays closed, that signal isn't getting through.
Open the Volcora Printer Utility (installed with the printer driver) and click Open Cash Drawer.
Your printer, cash drawer, and cable are working correctly. Skip to Step 3.
Continue with Steps 2 and 3 below.
Make sure the cash drawer cable is connected to the correct port on the back of the printer.
The cable should be plugged into the port labeled:
Do not plug it into the Ethernet/network port, as they look very similar.
Also, make sure you're using the cable that came with the cash drawer.
If Windows installed the printer automatically, it may be using the Generic/Text Only driver. While this driver can print receipts, it cannot send the signal to open the cash drawer.
Install the official Volcora 80mm printer driver, then restart the printer.
After installing the correct driver:
Process a small cash sale in the RoverPass Camp Store.
If everything is configured correctly, the receipt will print and the cash drawer should open automatically.
