RoverPass is compatible with nearly all electronic cash drawers and thermal receipt printers for cash drawers.  If you already have a cash drawer and receipt printer, try linking the one you have with the steps below.  If not, we have made an affordable recommendation below that has been tested with the RoverPass system.

What is it?:  Compatibility with thermal printers and electronic cash drawers allows you to:

  • Print a thermal receipt (typical receipt) for your customer.
  • Automatically open the cash drawer to input payment upon transaction.

 

How do I set it up?:

  1. Google Search to ensure that you are purchasing / using a Cash Drawer/Thermal Printer/Thermal Paper/Cable combination that is compatible with the device you plan to link it to (ex: Windows, Mac OS, Linux, VirtualCom, Android, RaspberryPi, iOS, etc).
  2. If you are using the recommended devices, a User Manual with step by step instructions should be provided with your purchase.    If using a different cash drawer and thermal printer, google this step as instructions should be easy to find.  No matter the brand, these steps typically include: 
    1. Connect your Cash Drawer and Thermal Printer (via cable, bluetooth, or wifi depending on the devices you have chosen).
    2. Power your Thermal Printer (via electrical outlet or battery depending on the devices you have chosen).
    3. Connect Your Thermal Printer and Device (Computer / Tablet / etc) (via cable, bluetooth, or wifi depending on the devices you have chosen).
  3. Toggle Thermal Printing on.  By default, everything in RoverPass is set to print in Standard Printer Format (8.5 x 11).  To adjust your receipts to Thermal Printer Format (in your RoverPass Owner Portal) go to Reservation Setup > General Settings > (toggle on) Do you use thermal printing for receipts? > Save Configuration


What can I expect once I set this up?

  • All buttons that say ""Print Receipt"" will now print a receipt to your Thermal Printer
    • Please note: This feature includes only buttons that say ""Print Receipt"".  If you would like to print anything else from your system, you should select your standard printer as your printing device and then send your print command.
    • The locations of these ""Print Receipt"" commands are:

      • The General Store Receipt.

        • After the transaction.

        • Directly from the Transactions list.

      • Reservation Builder Receipt.

        • After the transaction.

      • Payments Page Receipt.

        • Navigate to the ""Payments"" Page from the lefthand sidebar of the RoverPass Owner Portal, click into a transaction, select the ""Print Receipt"" button.

      • Invoice Page Receipt.

        • Navigate to any invoice and click ""Print Receipt""

      • Reservation Overview Receipt

        • Click into any reservation, navigate to ""Quick Actions"", and:

          • Click ""Print Receipt"" (this is the customer facing receipt) OR

          • ""Print Full Details"" (this is for campground management only -- not intended for the guest)

  • Upon entering a transaction and choosing to ""Print Receipt"", your Cash Drawer will pop open to allow you to enter funds and / or make change.

Please Note: To use the electronic cash drawer, you must also use a compatible thermal printer; you cannot use an electronic cash drawer by itself.
