Abandoned Checkout Emails

Abandoned Checkout Emails

Abandoned checkout emails bring back guests who start a booking at your campground and leave before paying. RoverPass sends up to two emails from your campground's name, each with a link straight back to the guest's saved cart.

Who gets the emails

A guest gets abandoned checkout emails when all of these are true:

  • They entered their first name, last name, email and phone on the payment page.
  • They did not complete a booking at your campground within 1 hour.
  • They have not unsubscribed from your campground's emails.

If the guest books at any point, the remaining emails stop automatically.

What your guests receive

EmailSendsSubject line
1. Reminder1 hour after the guest leaves checkoutYour stay at {Campground} is waiting
2. Last call24 hours after, only if they still haven't bookedStill thinking about {Check-in date}?

Both emails use your campground's name, logo, photo, address and reply-to email. RoverPass appears only as "Powered by RoverPass" in the footer.

Email 1: Reminder

Example of Email 1, the reminder

Shows the site, check-in and check-out dates, nights, guests, pets, rig and cart total, with one Finish your booking button.

Email 2: Last call

Example of Email 2, the last call

A shorter reminder with the trip summary, your top amenities and the Finish your booking button. It tells the guest this is the last reminder for this trip.

The button takes the guest back to your RoverPass checkout with their cart filled in. They land on the payment page and only need to enter their card.

  • Restored: dates, site type, site and rate, guests, pets, rig and vehicle, add-ons, custom fields, name, email and phone.
  • Not restored: card details (RoverPass never saves them) and trip protection quotes (re-quoted on return).
  • The links in both emails work until 7 days after the guest started checkout.
  • Availability and price are checked again when the guest returns. If the site is gone, the guest is sent to pick another site for the same dates.
  • The link stops working once the guest books.

Turn it on

Step 1: Log in to the RoverPass Owner Portal.

Step 2: Go to Revenue Management → Abandoned Checkouts.

Step 3: Switch Send abandoned checkout emails on.

Step 4: Click Save.

Abandoned checkout emails are available for campgrounds that take instant online bookings. Campgrounds that use reservation requests won't see this page.

Send abandoned checkouts to Zapier, Go High Level or your CRM

Use the RoverPass Zapier app to send each abandoned checkout to Go High Level, HubSpot, Mailchimp or thousands of other apps. This works with or without RoverPass emails turned on.

Step 1: In the Owner Portal, go to Integrations → Zapier and click Activate to get your access key.

Step 2: In Zapier, create a Zap and pick RoverPass → New Abandoned Checkout as the trigger.

Step 3: Paste your access key when Zapier asks for it.

Step 4: Add your action, for example LeadConnector (Go High Level) → Create/Update Contact.

Step 5: Map the fields and turn the Zap on.

Fields you receive: first name, last name, email, phone, marketing opt-in, check-in, check-out, cart total, Finish your booking link, and the time the guest left checkout. Zapier checks for new abandoned checkouts every 1 to 15 minutes, depending on your Zapier plan.

If you text these guests from your CRM, only text guests whose marketing opt-in is true. SMS rules require consent.

FAQ

Can I see who abandoned checkout?
Yes. Go to Revenue Management → Abandoned Checkouts. You'll see each guest's name, email, phone, trip, cart total and status (Not emailed, Emailed, Booked or Unsubscribed), plus how many checkouts and how much revenue the emails recovered in the last 30 days. Recovered revenue is the guests' cart totals when they left checkout.

Can guests unsubscribe?
Yes. Every email has an unsubscribe link. It stops checkout reminder emails from your campground only. Your booking confirmations still arrive.

Do you store card details?
No. RoverPass never saves card numbers from an unfinished checkout.

Does it work with the booking widget on my website?
Yes. Guests who start in the widget get the same emails and links.

Guests who only searched for dates get emails too?
No. Only guests who entered their name, email and phone on the payment page.
